Down to Get Up

You have everything you need to achieve more.

My clients look at me like I’ve lost my mind when I say that. After all, the corporate world has not been kind. They’ve dealt with:

  • Toxic culture

  • Bad managers

  • Disagreeable co-workers

  • Profit-over-people mentality

Their skepticism makes sense. Trying to grow in an environment like that is exhausting. Not only does it make it hard to protect your peace, but it can erode your sense of self-worth and make wins feel hollow.

It can feel like you’ve been knocked down so low that you will never get up. However…never is rarely accurate.

Sometimes it takes being knocked all the way down to rise even higher.

Here are 3 real-life examples of men who served time in prison and used that rock bottom as a turning point:

Judge Greg Mathis

Host of The Judge Mathis Show

The former gang member and inmate became a District Judge. At the same time, he runs a non-profit helping youth and ex-offenders turn their lives around.

Kevin Mitnick

Founder of Mitnick Security

Once one of the FBI’s most wanted, the former hacker served time and then launched a cybersecurity firm now valued at over $7 million.

Tim Allen

Comedian and actor

After a prison sentence for drug trafficking, he devoted himself to comedy. Eventually he starred as Tim “the ToolMan” Taylor in Home Improvement and other notable roles.

Hitting bottom isn’t the end.
It’s where the rebuild starts.

It starts with asking yourself what you really want—not what you’re supposed to want. There is a way to get some of that in your life.
